A Pouch of History, One Ravioli at a Time

On March 20th, the world rolls out its pasta rollers to pay homage to a dish that has stuffed its way into our hearts: Ravioli. This little pocket of pasta perfection dates back to the 14th century, as recorded in one of the oldest medieval cookbooks, ‘Liber de Coquina’. Today, I’ve captured the essence of ravioli in my daily journal through the medium of paint, not just as a dish but as a piece of edible history.

Once a delicacy for the affluent due to its labor-intensive process, ravioli has since filled the plates of many, regardless of status. Each stroke of my brush carries the weight of tradition, from the creamy cheese filling to the delicate pasta envelope, each ravioli is a bite-sized journey through time.
